Mid Year Assessments

As you recall, we have refreshed our academic support services (MTSS) this year to ensure our students successfully master the curriculum. A significant part of this effort is our assessment process. The Mashpee Public Schools will conduct mid-year Renaissance STAR Assessments between January 13th and 24th.

MidYearAssessments

As you recall, we have refreshed our academic support services (MTSS) this year to ensure our students successfully master the curriculum. A significant part of this effort is our assessment process. The Mashpee Public Schools will conduct mid-year Renaissance STAR Assessments between January 13th and 24th.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have accurate data from these assessments, as they will form the foundational work in our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for the next half of the year. When students give their best effort, we can use that accurate data to measure progress and for intervention or extension activities—poor data will result in plans that may be inaccurate or ineffective.

Please briefly talk with your children to emphasize the importance of doing their best on these assessments. Your assistance will ensure we are best provisioned to meet your children's needs.

FireUpdate

Again, I express my appreciation for all the support the Mashpee Public Schools have received in response to the fire incident at the Middle-High School on Monday morning. Our public safety partners were outstanding. Currently, we are working with the DPW and their partners in the repair and clean-up process. Significant progress has been made, and I am confident our gymnasium will return to service soon. Part of the review process of last Mondays event includes the fire department investigating the cause of the fire and an incident review of our emergency procedures to ensure we learn and improve. Although our emergency operation was effective overall, we will be looking to expand our radio communications for efficiency and make some minor adjustments to our protocols.

Lastly, I want to thank the families for their patience as we work through our protocols and processes. We prioritize ensuring that all students and staff are safely evacuated and accounted for. Then, we move on to communication with families.
