Dear Mashpee Community,

On behalf of the Mashpee School Committee, we are in the process of forming the Superintendent Search Screening Committee for our next Superintendent. We are seeking interested community members from the following demographic groups.

  • Parents (three seats)

    • General Parent

    • ELL Parent

    • Special Education Parent

  • Community Member (one seat)

If you are interested in participating, please note the following key dates. Attendance is mandatory for all listed events:

  • Screening Committee Orientation (via Zoom): Monday, December 2 at 6:00 PM

  • Screening of Candidate Applications (via Zoom): Monday, December 9 at 6:00 PM

  • Application Deadline: Friday, December 13

  • Screening of Remaining Candidate Applications (via Zoom): Friday, December 20 at 6:00 PM

  • Preliminary Interviews: January 6 - January 10

To express your interest, please submit a letter to me at clewis@mpspk12.org by November 20 for consideration.

ParentChild+ -- Equal Possibilities from the Start

A school readiness program for children 18-48 months old

The ParentChild+ Program will help your family in your role as your child's first and most important teacher. Our Home Visitors show you fun ways to help your child learn at home with free books and toys!

WHO WE HELP: Families with a child 18-48 months in Falmouth, Woods Hole or Mashpee. We work together to ensure language isn't a barrier.

CAPE COD PARENTING CLASSES - FALL 2024

Active Parenting is an evidence-based parenting class for families with children ages 0-5 years with Cape Cod Family Resource Center Call (508) 815-5100

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a support group for grandparents and kinship caregivers raising children. Meets the third Tuesday of every month with Cape Cod Family Resource Center. Registration required. Call (508) 815-5100.

Nurturing Fathers is a 13-week in-person parenting class offering father's the opportunity to enhance their parenting skills with Cape Cod Family Resource Center. Thursdays from 6-8pm starting September 12, 2024. Dinner provided. Call (508) 815-5100.

Birth & Beyond: A Family Experience a series of four (4) classes intended before the birth of your baby for those 6 to 8 months pregnant. Expectant parents will learn about the labor and birth process, relaxation techniques, pain management, cesarean birth, breastfeeding and what to expect with immediate newborn care with Cape Cod Healthcare.

The Basics of Baby Care for parents, grandparents and caregivers to learn the basics of newborn care including family adjustment and soothing techniques as well as bathing, swaddling, baby safety, sleep and normal newborn appearance with Cape Cod Healthcare.

Ongoing Classes

Active Parenting Online Complete the lessons wherever and whenever you like, and review past lessons as many times as you need during the enrollment period. Online classes also allow you to connect virtually with other parents to hold discussions and complete activities. (Enrollment period differs depending on class.)

 
Virtual Family Night

Virtual Family Night

An arts-based grief group for families with children

Sharing Kindness is offering a monthly virtual grief support group for families with children ages 6-17, which features arts-based activities for all ages geared toward navigating grief, honoring memories, and making meaning after a death loss. Materials for activities will be mailed to families prior to each group.

WHEN: 2nd Tuesday of each month from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM

WHERE: Via Zoom from wherever you are!

HOW IT WORKS: Families are welcome to join any or all of these virtual events throughout the year. Registration is required at least a week prior to each group.

FAMILY GRIEF GROUP FOR FAMILIES WITH TEENS & TWEENS

A death loss affects the whole family, and everyone processes their grief differently. Sharing Kindness offers free clinician-led peer grief support designed to meet the needs of families with tweens (ages 9-12) and teens (ages 13-17) on Cape Cod. Our family program runs for the academic year.

WHEN: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, 5:30 PM-7:30 PM

WHERE: South Harwich, MA

HOW IT WORKS: Starts with a light supper at 5:30 PM, followed by separate groups for parents/caregivers and children from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM
