Principal's Message

Dear KCCS Families,

Just a quick reminder to plan ahead for a long weekend! There will be No School for students on Friday, October 10th (staff PD) and Monday, October 13th (Indigenous Peoples' Day). Enjoy the time with your family!

This week, we dedicated time to refreshing our PBIS school-wide expectations, focusing on what it means to be a Falcon Five Student. Please continue to reinforce these five critical traits at home: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Caring, and Be Ready. By using this positive, common language both at school and home, we can work together to ensure a successful and supportive environment for all students.

In Partnership,

Jane Redman

Important Message from Superintendent, Dr. Michele Conners

Dear Mashpee Community,

This fall, the Mashpee Public Schools is launching a comprehensive strategic planning initiative to guide our district into the future. The plan will:

  • Define our Mission, Core Values, and Vision;
  • Establish strategic objectives and initiatives; and
  • Ensure that our schools remain focused on continuous improvement and systemic renewal.

The strength of our Strategic Plan will come directly from the voices of our students, staff, families, and community partners. To that end, we are seeking 20–25 members to serve on the Strategic Planning Committee.

Committee Composition
We are seeking representation from across the Mashpee community, including:

  • Principals and Assistant Principals
  • Teachers and Support Staff
  • Parents/Guardians
  • Students in Grades 10 and 11
  • Elected Town Officials
  • Up to two School Committee Members

Meeting Dates and Times
Committee members will meet from 4:00 – 6:30 PM on the following dates:

  • Meeting #1: Thursday, October 23, 2025
  • Meeting #2: Thursday, November 20, 2025
  • Meeting #3 (Data Meeting): Thursday, January 8, 2026
  • Meeting #4: Thursday, February 12, 2026
  • Meeting #5: Thursday, March 12, 2026
  • Meeting #6: Thursday, April 9, 2026
  • Alternate Date (if needed): Thursday, May 7, 2026

Commitment
We ask that interested members:

Over the years, the success of the Mashpee Public Schools has depended on the broad-based involvement and support of our community. Once again, we invite you to bring your perspective, expertise, and passion to help us chart a course for the future—one that ensures every Mashpee student thrives.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to serve. Together, we will build a Strategic Plan that reflects our shared commitment to students, families, and the community of Mashpee.

With gratitude,

Dr. Michele M. Conners
Superintendent of Schools

IMPORTANT SCHOOL SAFETY AND LOGISTICS UPDATE

In alignment with a recent District-wide safety initiative, we are implementing two new procedures at KCCS to strengthen security and minimize disruptions to classroom learning. Both changes take effect on Monday, October 6.

1. Mandatory ID for Early Student Pickups

For the safety and security of every child, we are updating our early dismissal protocol. Effective Monday, October 6, any adult signing a student out of school early must present a valid photo identification before the child will be released. This is required for all individuals, even if you are well-known to the office staff. This consistent measure ensures a verifiable process every time and removes any ambiguity about who is authorized to take a student out during school hours.

2. New Late Item Drop-Off Procedure

To minimize interruptions to classroom instruction, we are changing the process for dropping off forgotten items (lunches, water bottles, backpacks, etc.). A designated KCCS Cubby has been placed inside the main building vestibule (the area between the two sets of doors). If you need to drop off an item for your child after the school day has started, please follow these steps:

  1. Place the item in the KCCS Cubby in the vestibule.

  2. Clearly label the item with your student's full name and teacher's name.

  3. Office staff will ensure these items are delivered to your child.

Thank you for your quick cooperation with these new procedures as we work together to keep KCCS secure and focused on learning.

Lifetouch: Kenneth C. Coombs School Picture Retake Day is Coming!

Please mark your calendars for October 23. Lifetouch will be back at KCCS for students who need a retake or were absent on that day!

KCCS Holiday Support

The holiday season is right around the corner and while it is a joyful time for many families it can also be stressful with added expenses. Mrs. Kaski, one of the school counselors, is now starting to organize KCCS's holiday support for the 2025 season. If your family would benefit from a little extra assistance during this time of the year please reach out to her at jkaski@mpspk12.org or 508-539-1520 x5120 for more information.
