School Lunch Choice Reminder

Students are asked to select their lunch choice in the morning. This lunch count is super important because it tells our kitchen staff exactly how many meals to prepare. Please help us by reminding your child that they can not change their lunch order when they arrive at the cafeteria. Thank you!!

Pollinator Garden Project

In partnership with the Friends of Mashpee Wildlife Refuge and Americorps service member Alayna, KCCS students will participate in the care for a new pollinator garden at KCCS! This week students learned the importance of "lasagna layers" and what they can provide to gardens.

Read to Me Program

The "Read to Me" Program is officially underway! We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Southport Falcons.

Students visited the new pollinator garden site, located in the STEM courtyard, to watch the raised garden beds being constructed by the Friends of the Mashpee Wildlife Refuge volunteers and Americorps service member Alayna. Alayna spoke with students about what the different layers in the garden beds provide for our future plants. The lasagna layers include cardboard, grass clippings, leaves, loam, and crushed shell. Some winter crocuses and allium bulbs were planted to get the new garden started! Stay tuned as this project continues to unfold throughout the year! Thank you so much to Cape Cod Bagel for providing the coffee grounds and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for providing the loam for this exciting new project!

Katelynn’s Closet- Warm Clothes Available

Who We Serve

Katelynn’s Closet serves children ages 4-18 who are deemed in need and live on Cape Cod (Wareham-Sagamore) and the Islands. All orders for children in need must be placed by a social service agent or a school counselor. Katelynn’s Closet does not respond to requests for clothing from family members or the general public. All emails must be sent through a verifiable agency/school email. We also serve fire victims, with requests coming from the fire department.

How We Work

Katelynn’s Closet is distribution based, with social workers and school nurses assessing the child in need, then placing an order with Katelynn’s Closet. The social worker or school nurse provides the child’s age, size, initials, and any special request items like a winter jacket, swimsuit or footwear. The social worker then picks up the clothing order at our warehouse and delivers it to the child in need. At no time does Katelynn’s Closet assess need, nor do we know the identities of the children we serve.
