Messages from Principal O'Brien and Assistant Principal Prehna

Dear Coombs School Families,

On July 1, 2025, Kenneth C. Coombs School will welcome a new principal to our community. While I won't officially retire until October 2025, this transition allows our new leadership to begin with the fiscal year. During these remaining months, I'm committed to ensuring a seamless handover that prioritizes what matters most: our students.

After 29 fulfilling years with the Mashpee School District, I find myself reflecting on the journey that brought me here—from paraprofessional to teacher, instructional coach, and finally administrator for the past 13 years. I have had the privilege of serving in all three school buildings and the central office, and nothing compares to the joy of working alongside your remarkable children. I am very grateful for these past two years at Coombs School coming back to the school where I began my career and for working with such a dedicated staff and caring families. For that, I am deeply grateful.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Principal O'Brien

Dear KCCS Community,

I would like to take a moment to thank you all for the privilege of working alongside you as the Assistant Principal of the Kenneth C. Coombs School for the past five years. It has truly been an honor to be part of the Mashpee community—a place full of heart, dedication, and resilience.

Throughout my time at KCCS, I have learned so much from our incredible students, staff, and families. I am extremely proud of the work we’ve done together and the strong, meaningful relationships we've built. Your passion and commitment to our students have made this experience deeply rewarding.

Next year, I will be moving on from KCCS, having accepted a position as a building principal off Cape. While I am excited for this next chapter, I will truly miss KCCS—especially the kids who make this school such a special place.

Thank you again for the support, collaboration, and memories. I wish KCCS and the entire Mashpee Public Schools community continued success.

Go Falcons!

Assistant Principal Prehna

This well-attended event is just a few days away!

We hope to see ALL our rising third graders and their families there as we begin this new chapter together.

Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC)

"Attention Parents and Caregivers of Children with an IEP or 504 Plan

You're invited to our next SEPAC Meeting on Monday, May 20th, from 6:30–7:30 PM at Quashnet School.

What is SEPAC?
The Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is a group of parents, caregivers and school staff working together to improve special education. Together we;

  • Advise on special education planning and services and build collaboration between families and school leaders

  • Share information on education programs and parent-focused topics and connect families to share experiences and resources

  • Empower parents and caregivers to help their children grow with our schools and community

Why attend?
Because your voice matters! This is your chance to help shape the future of special education in our schools. We’ll be voting on new officers for the next school year, so your participation is especially important.

Let’s work together to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed."
