Lunch Bunch
Kenneth C. Coombs School Adjustment Counselors! Together, we support your children as needed throughout the school day. As part of your child’s social learning experience, we offer opportunities to strengthen social skills and peer relationships. Lunch Bunch groups will be offered to students this year in First and Second grade.
What is a “Lunch Bunch?”
Lunch Bunch is a group of students learning specific social, emotional, and communication skills from the School Adjustment Counselors. Lunch Bunch is held during the grade-level lunch block; therefore, no academic time is missed. Lunch Bunch takes place with a group of 3-4 children meeting in a the guidance room or other small group space to share lunch and conversation. We will try our best to offer this to all students interested in participating, or by teacher and/or parent requests. Please note that some students may participate in one meeting, while other students may stay in a group for several weeks, based on a student’s individual needs and the focus of the group.
What happens in Lunch Bunch?
Lunch Bunch focuses on building friendships, developing social and emotional skills and strategies, learning problem-solving techniques and cooperative game playing. Eating together with new and old friends provides natural opportunities to work on skills, such as turn-taking, waiting to speak, asking questions, active listening, understanding social cues, using manners and sharing. We will discuss and role play situations related to getting along, making friends, asking for help, and managing peer pressure.
If you do NOT want your student to participate in a lunch bunch, kindly email either counselor to indicate your decision to opt out for the 2024-2025 school year.

PTO News and Book Fair Bingo
Camp S’more Books has begun, and campers are having a blast! We kicked off the start of Book Fair week on Wednesday November 6th with our 2nd Annual Book BINGO, and we had so much fun! Winners had the choice of a new book from Scholastic or a voucher for $15 towards their purchase at the fair. Campers and their families went fishing for snacks and enjoyed s’mores treat bars made by our very own Kaitlyn Mutrie! Oh my, were they tasty!
Thursday and Friday’s Library specials visited camp this week, and it has been so fun seeing the excitement campers have about the incredible books they can shop for! It isn’t too late to set up your child’s eWallet if you haven’t already done so. Additional forms of payment accepted are: cash, credit card, and check (made payable to KCC PTO). Student shopping will continue on Tuesday November 12th through Friday November 15th, and we will close out the fair on Saturday November 16th with “Books and Bites” from 10am-1pm.
