The Y-Achievers Program is a college prep and career readiness program aimed to motivate BIPOC teens by giving them the support and resources to pursue and achieve their personal, academic, and career goals. Please see Ms. Almeida in Guidance B if you are interested in joining this program which is set to start in January.

MPSPortraitofaGraduate:MMHSasEngagedCitizens

We have a new course here at Mashpee Middle-High school called Applied Physics. Mr. Devin McMurray has brought this new course on board based on his experience in teaching both physics and engineering. This class includes a long term project where students design and construct real functional electric guitars. They begin researching ideas for form and function and then realize them utilizing both power tools and hand tools in the engineering space and wood shop at the high school. Students learn lessons about forces and strength of materials, waves and sound, electronics with installation of pickups and hardware, and problem solving associated with novel designs. Students have to think in 3 dimensions, plan ahead, correct mistakes, and evaluate their progress along the way. They invariably become proficient with a number of hand and power tools throughout the experience. This is a true 21st century project that requires a critical thinker, engaged problem solver, and resilient individual. All important traits valued in the portrait of a graduate here at Mashpee Middle-High school.
