The Superintendent's Academic Excellence Award

Congratulations to MMHS senior Deliyah Fortes!

The Superintendent's Academic Excellence Award is awarded annually to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement as well as meaningful personal contributions to our school community.

MMHS as Engaged Citizens

On behalf of Nadja Carbone, the Mashpee Youth Soccer Organization President, I am sharing the following opportunity. As the only feeder program to the MMHS Soccer program, their top priority is to encourage and increase girls’ participation in soccer within Mashpee. The MYSO Spring 2026 registration is now open, and they're hoping to reach more families and students who might be interested in joining.

Thank you, MMHS Volunteers!!!

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, all of our MMHS seniors participated in mock interviews with community volunteers.

Mashpee"FilltheVan"DonationCompetition

Everyone is a winner when there are donations and a little friendly competition!

Please consider donating non-perishables and the "suggested items" listed on the flyer here at MMHS! When dropping off or picking up your child, we will have carriages outside of the main entrance where you can drop items. Please only put items inside the carriage and don't leave things on the ground. Carriages will be outside of the main entrance to our school during regular school days.

Please only leave items when carriages are there! We will be accepting items until morning drop-off on November 20th! We're having a little friendly competition to see which school can collect the most items: KCC, Quash, or MMHS. Help MMHS win!

MMHSNeedsYourInput:NEASCFamilyOpinionSurvey

Attention MMHS Families:

This school year, MMHS is beginning the self-reflection process for the renewal of our NEASC Accreditation. NEASC stands for New England Association of Schools and Colleges and they partner with schools to “co-create the future of education through purposeful accreditation focused on high-quality learning for all students.” This impacts students because, when colleges and universities review potential student applicants, they can feel confident that students who attended a NEASC accredited school will be ready for a rigorous educational experience. While MMHS is already a NEASC accredited school, we must cycle through the accreditation process every 10 years.

MMHS will be in the NEASC Accreditation process from now through March of 2028. This year, we begin with the self-reflection process in which NEASC assists us in gathering data from all stakeholders. We then use that data to engage in a full staff self-reflection process based on the NEASC Standards, which I've attached to this message for your review. Please consider taking the time to complete our MMHS NEASC Family Opinion Survey linked here: https://surveys.neasc.org/s3/CPS-2028-Family-Survey?id=39

The family survey is estimated to take about 10 minutes to complete, and your answers are completely anonymous. The results of the survey are collected by NEASC, not the school or the district, and NEASC delivers the data to the school in summary form only. There is absolutely no way for us to know how you answered. The family survey has been professionally translated by NEASC from English into Arabic, Bosnian, Haitian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Respondents can choose their language preference from a pull-down menu above the title on the welcome screen to complete the survey in these languages.

As the principal of MMHS, it is my goal to move our school forward in positive ways, and I truly need your feedback and the feedback of students to accomplish this. I would greatly appreciate your participation in this process! Please consider taking the time to complete the survey linked above.

It has been an absolute honor to work with you over the last year and a half, and I look forward to our continued partnership moving forward into the future!

Congratulations to MMHS senior Deliyah Fortes!

The Superintendent's Academic Excellence Award is awarded annually to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement as well as meaningful personal contributions to our school community. Deliyah's hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence--both in and out of the classroom--have distinguished her among her peers. WampanoagOutreachOpportunities

In partnership with the Wampanoag Tribal Education Department, I'm excited to share the following opportunities with our MMHS students:

  • Friday, 11/7/2025 - A representative from MS2, a summer math and science program at Phillips Academy, will be available to meet with Indigenous students in grade 9 during lunch periods. This is an informational session about their summer programs. Interested students should check in with the grades 7-9 School Counseling Office for a pass. See attached flyer.
  • Dual Enrollment Students: Cape Cod Community College will be offering a FREE and HYflex Spring semester course titled An Introduction to Indigenous Education. While Indigenous students are encouraged to apply, this opportunity is being offered to all MMHS dual enrollment students. See attached flyer and check in with your school counselor for more information.
  • Through the Indian Education Grant, Mrs. Renee Lopes-Pocknett is available to provide tutoring services to our Wampanoag students. If you're a Wampanoag student and need some extra help, you should check in with Mrs. Renee!

We're excited to offer these amazing opportunities to our students and we hope you consider participating!

BarnstableCountyStudentSurvey,Grades6-10

The Barnstable County Department of Human Services conducted a Youth Behavioral Health Baseline Needs Assessment completed in 2024. The report tells them that social isolation and feeling disconnected from peers and the community were identified by young people as having a significant negative impact on their mental health. In response to this finding, they have created a Youth Gathering Spaces Task Group who developed a survey to learn more. They plan to use student feedback to promote the need for more youth gathering spaces. This is NOT an MMHS survey. The Barnstable County DA's Office asked us to share this survey on their behalf.
