MMHSMobileFamilyPickup!

The MMHS Food Pantry and Cares Closet held its first mobile family pickup before February vacation. Families were able to shop for items from our pantry via a Google Form, selecting what they needed. They then had the option to schedule a pickup time at their convenience, with their orders brought directly to them.

Moving forward, families will be able to shop from the MMHS Food Pantry every other week, with pickups always taking place on Thursdays at MMHS. Stay tuned for the next email with more information!

Special thanks to senior Kaelyn Gomez for helping to coordinate today's pickup — and for all the work she has done in the pantry — as part of her senior project.

The French trip to Nice, France, over February break was a HUGE success. Students learned, experienced, and grew in so many ways. Putting into practice skills they have acquired in class, students used French to engage in purposeful communication with their host families, teachers, guide and storekeepers. They practiced resilience, problem solving, and active listening. What an incredible week of trying authentic foods, exploring historic cities and navigating life in southern France. Our experienced guide, Sylvain, shared that the Mashpee / Falmouth group was the BEST group he had ever had; responsible, curious, warm and positive throughout the week. He said he will not forget this amazing group of students. And nor will we forget our time in France; the memories, sites, friendships and warm welcome we received. Together, it was an experience that will last a lifetime!

The Mashpee Middle High School VEX Robotics Teams 63857B and 63857D competed in the Massachusetts VEX State Championship this past weekend! Both teams worked hard and finished strong with team 63857D including Brodie Perry and Colby Rogers finishing in the top 20 of 64 teams! There's no rest for the weary, though this season has officially ended for our Mashpee teams. They are already designing and building their new robots for next year's competition! Gotta love their drive and commitment!

Students in our Fashion class learn hands-on skills like sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting, embroidery, and weaving. Not only is it an excellent way to destress (great for their mental health), but it gives them something else to do with their hands other than texting when they are free. They were having so much fun they asked to bring it with them outside of class, and they showed other friends (who came and asked for yarn too). So they are teaching each other, and these modern kids are finding fun in these "old-fashioned" skills.

The Mashpee Cares Closet & Food Pantry would like to thank Cape Cod 5 for their continued support. We were awarded an additional $100.00 condition at the Cape Cod 5 Mini-Grant Banquet on Wednesday, February 16th (on top of the $1,000.00 previously awarded to this project). They are a great community partner and are helping us make a huge impact. Thank you also to Ms. Lynch, Ms. Taylor, Ms. Carroll, and Ms. Purdy for the work they do in our school!
