This spring in STEM, 6th graders will be learning to use basic hand tools. This is one of the most exciting learning standards in the Massachusetts Science, Tech, and Engineering Framework, and truly a life skill. I'm requesting your help during this project. It is immensely helpful to have additional adult eyes in the classroom during the building process. Please click below for full details!
Quashnet Robotics Update
Congratulations to three Quashnet robotics teams who have qualified for the state championship which will take place on March 15 in Lexington. Our students faced stiff competition against middle school teams and robot academies from across the state. We're so proud of all they have accomplished in a few short months!

In two weeks on Saturday, March 22, the hallways of the Quashnet School will be turned into a MINI GOLF COURSE, and there will be food from Dino's available!
This is meant to be a fun filled day for families, and you can come any time to play mini golf and eat between 10am and 4pm. Our hope is that every family can attend throughout the day so this can be a memorable event we continue to host every year in the future! |

This spring in STEM, 6th graders will be learning to use basic hand tools. This is one of the most exciting learning standards in the Massachusetts Science, Tech, and Engineering Framework, and truly a life skill. Once students have learned the basics of how to use a hammer, screwdriver, and drill, we will be building bluebird houses. The bluebird houses will be then given to Mashpee Conservation for placement around town. I'm requesting your help during this project. It is immensely helpful to have additional adult eyes in the classroom during the building process. Those of you in the trades know that there are simple tricks that make it easier to put pieces together and ways to make the project come out looking just right. Having a couple parents in the room means that everyone is safer while using tools and students are able to learn more from your experienced insight. If you're able to help, please sign up for specific dates in the Sign Up Genius linked here. I have the dates listed with the special subject rotation day listed, too, so you can come when your child is in STEM. Feel free to sign up for more than one day! 6th grade STEM classes take place from 9:15-10:05, the exceptions to that are MCAS and half days which have the appropriate time on the signup list. The bluebird house project will begin in mid-April. Additionally, I need someone to cut the wood for this project. We'll be building 28 birdhouses, so that means around 300 cuts. I'm hoping at least one of you has a setup to get this done efficiently. In the past we've collaborated with the MMHS woodshop, but that's not an option this year. If you're able to help with this part, please message me directly through School Status Connect or email at jwhiddon@mpspk12.org. Thanks for your support! Jamie Whiddon STEM teacher |

I wanted to let everyone know that the parent/guardian opinion survey link will be sent to families at on Monday, March 10th from the Superintendent's Office. The survey will be open from March 10th - March 21st.
I highly recommend you take the time to submit your feedback on the survey. As administrators, we take this data very seriously, analyze, and make decisions and changes based on the communities feedback on this survey each year. |
