No Stuffed Animals Brought from Home to School

Please be reminded that toys from home, including stuffed animals, are not permitted at school. The school is not responsible for any personal items that are lost or stolen, and students do not need these items during the school day.

A Safety Reminder

To improve school safety, we are taking extra precautions going forward with adults coming to the school during school hours—any time between arrival and dismissal. We will be implementing two new strategies to improve student safety: New Early Dismissal Rules and Item Drop Off for Students. Please click below to learn more.

ASafetyReminder

To improve school safety, we are taking extra precautions going forward with adults coming to the school during school hours—any time between arrival and dismissal. We will be implementing two new strategies to improve student safety:

  1. Early Dismissals: Every adult who comes to the school building to dismiss students during school hours will be required to present photo identification to the main office staff. Please have your ID ready upon entry.

  2. Item Drop-Off: If dropping an item off at school for your child (i.e., a lunch box, instrument, jacket, etc.), we will not have you come all the way into the main office. Between the double doors in the foyer will be a cart, sticky notes, and pens. You'll buzz in through the first door, leave the item on the table, and write your child's name on a note to leave with the item.

While we recognize this may be inconvenient for parents at times, this is being done out of an abundance of caution to make student safety in school our most important priority.

SignUpforParentTeacherConferences

This is a reminder that parent-teacher conferences are being offered this year on the afternoons and evenings of Thursday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 28.

We recognize that in fifth and sixth grade, students have two or three core academic teachers, but we ask that conferences be scheduled only with your child's homeroom teacher. Our staff shares information within teacher teams about all four core content areas, so the homeroom teacher can speak to you about your child's full academic experience.

We use this approach to ensure all parents have an opportunity to schedule a conference. If we allowed multiple conferences per student, some families would schedule two or three slots, leaving other families unable to sign up. Conferences with specialist teachers, special education service providers, and counselors are encouraged if these staff work with your child, in addition to meeting with your child's homeroom teacher.

DistrictReviewthisWeek

This is a reminder that this week we are hosting visitors from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for our district review.

DESE staff will be on-site, participating in focus groups and visiting classrooms to observe instruction.

Please note the following regarding classroom observations:

  • Observations are designed to be non-disruptive to student learning.

  • DESE individuals will typically enter the back of the classroom, quietly take notes, and leave without interacting with students.

  • You may see members of the DESE staff on campus throughout the school day.

Thank you for your cooperation as we host this important review.
