Daniel has been a resident of Mashpee since 2017, after moving back to Cape Cod from Western MA. Originally born and raised in Falmouth, Daniel is the child of immigrant parents from Portugal who moved to the United States for a better life. After graduating from Falmouth High School, Daniel attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he earned his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Portuguese. Daniel continued his education in the human services field, receiving his Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from the School for Social Work at Smith College.
Upon completion of his Master’s Degree, Daniel became a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and also received a Perinatal Mental Health Certificate in the state of Massachusetts. His career has primarily been focused in the mental health and substance use disorder fields, including treatment for children, adolescents, and their family systems. This work experience includes inpatient hospital settings, outpatient residential treatment programming, as well as acute care in our local hospital’s maternity and pediatric units. In his current role, Daniel is the Director of Substance Use Disorder and Outreach Programs for an area health center focused on serving Cape Cod’s most marginalized residents.
Daniel and his wife Jackie are the proud parents of two children who attend the Mashpee Public Schools. Daniel is invested in the Mashpee community, supporting the local area Girl Scouts, as well as participating in many local community events. Through a lens of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and by utilizing his educational background, professional experiences, and work as a community member, Danny is confident that he will be able to help the Mashpee Public Schools achieve its goals and that he will be able to positively impact outcomes for all students.
