Which Voice Represents You?

At Mashpee Public Schools, we believe that no one knows your child or your neighborhood better than you do. While our teachers and staff are experts in school numbers and lessons, you are the expert on your family's needs and dreams. We want you to have a "seat at the table" where big decisions are made. Whether you share your thoughts in a quick survey or join one of our groups, your voice helps us make our schools a better place for every student. You don't need a special degree to help out—you just need to care about our kids and our community

We have several ways for families to lead and advise. You don't need to be an expert in school policy to join; you just need to be an expert on your child. Click a group below to see how you can help shape our school.

No one knows our students or this community better than you. We invite your expertise to help shape the decisions that affect our families. Whether you have 30 minutes a month or want to lead a committee, your seat is ready. Know a neighbor who has great ideas but is too shy to join? Tell us who they are so we can personally invite them to the table."

Common Questions

"Do I need to know school jargon?" No! We need your common sense and your perspective as a parent. We'll explain the rest.
"I've never been on a board." If you've ever solved a problem with a neighbor, you are qualified!
"I don't have much time." Most groups meet just once a month for an hour. Your ideas are worth that hour.
"Am I an expert?" Yes—you are the expert on your child. We can't do this without you.

School Council: Help plan our schools future

What is a School Council?

Think of the School Council as a team for our school. It is made up of the Principal, teachers, and—most importantly—parents like you. In Massachusetts, every school must have this team. Why? Because the people who work at the school know education and teaching but you know your child, your neighbors, and your community better than anyone else. We need your "home-grown" expertise to make sure our school is doing what is best for our families.

Why Should You Join Us?

When parents and teachers work together, our students do better. When you join the council, you help us make big decisions, like:

How we spend our school money.
How we can make the school a safer, happier place.
What new goals we should set for our students.

You don't need a special degree to be on this team. You just need to care about our kids. We will handle the numbers and the "school talk." We need you to bring the heart and the ideas. Your seat at the table is waiting!

ELPAC: For Families Who Speak More Than One Language

What is the ELPAC?

The ELPAC is a group of parents and guardians whose children are learning English. We come from many different backgrounds, but we all want the same thing: for our children to do well in school.

Why Should You Join Us?

You have a special understanding of what it's like to raise a child in more than one language. We need your help to make our school better. When you join, you will:

Talk with school leaders about the best ways to teach our students.
Share your ideas on how to make our school feel like home for every family.
Help plan programs that give our kids more chances to grow and learn.
Meet other parents who are on the same journey as you.

How do I get involved?

Joining is easy! Any parent whose child is currently learning English (or has in the past) is welcome. We are a team built on trust and friendship.

When we meet: The 3rd Thursday of every month at 5:00 PM.
Where we meet: Quashnet School Library (150 Old Barnstable Rd, Mashpee).

SEPAC: For Families of Students with Extra Learning Needs

What is the SEPAC?

SEPAC stands for Special Education Parent Advisory Council. It is a friendly group of parents and guardians whose children need a little extra help or have an IEP or 504 plan. We believe that every child can succeed, and we are here to support each other.

Why Should You Join Us?

You are the expert on your child. We need your ideas to make our school a better place for students with all kinds of learning needs. By joining us, you can:

Have a Voice: Share your ideas about how special education works in our schools.
Get Support: Meet other parents who understand what it is like to raise a child with extra needs.
Learn New Things: We host talks on helpful topics like student rights, anxiety, and how to help kids stay organized.
Work Together: We meet with school leaders to help plan programs that work for our kids.

How do I get involved? You do not need to be an expert on school rules to join. You just need to care about your child and our community. We welcome all families and would love to have you at our next meeting!

Indian Education: For Native American & Wampanoag Families

Help Our Native Students Soar

Do you want to have a say in what your child learns at school? We invite you to join our Indian Education Parent Committee! Open to all Wampanoag and Native families

What is this committee? We are a friendly group of parents, teachers, and students just like you. We work together with the school to make sure our Native American and Alaska Native students have everything they need to do great in class and feel proud of who they are.

Why should you join?

Your Voice Matters: Help decide how the school uses special "Title VI" funding for our kids.
Celebrate Culture: Help plan fun events, like language classes, traditional storytelling, and Native art projects.
Support Our Kids: Help us create a school where every Native student feels welcome and successful.
Build Community: Meet other families and work as a team to make our school even better.

When do we meet? We meet once a month to talk about school plans and share new ideas. You don't need any special training to join—you just need to care about our kids!

School Spirit & PTO: Plan Events & Support Teachers

These groups are the heart of our schools! They plan fun events, help our teachers, and raise money for things like field trips and sports. You don't need to be a "professional volunteer" to join—you just need to care about making school fun for our kids.

Other Ways to Help

Sometimes we need help with special projects that only happen once in a while. These are great ways to share your voice if you are busy but still want to make a difference!

Share Your Thoughts (Annual Survey)

Every year, we send out a survey to ask how we are doing. This is the fastest way to tell us what is working for your family and what we can do better. Please keep an eye out for this in your email!

Special Projects & Focus Groups

When the school has a big goal—like picking a new leader or making a long-term plan—we put together small groups of parents to help.

Why it's great: These groups usually only meet a few times.
What we need: We need your "real-world" advice to make sure our plans work for every family in town.

If you are busy right now but want to help with one-time projects (like a 30-minute survey, a single focus group, or a special event), join our Interest List. We will only email you when a specific, short-term need comes up.
